Congratulations to the Labrador Friendship Centre for such an amazing job in hosting the Online Labrador Workshop in partnership with the Atlantic Summer Institute on Healthy and Safe Communities (ASI) on March 7th!
We are grateful to Alicia Neville and Jade Rachwal for reaching out through their networks to promote the event and want to thank those who attended and those who contributed to the program: Elder Maria Merkuratsuk who opened the workshop; to Jade who showcased the SHIELD Project, a great example of an #upstream initiative in Labrador.
Hats off to our lead facilitator Wendy Kraglund-Gauthier and break-out room facilitators, Ashley Martin (Community Service Worker, Labrador Friendship Centre), and Jill Elson (Community Outreach Worker, Labrador Friendship Centre) who engaged participants in discussing key questions about how the ASI Policy Brief could support community resilience and the
#mentalhealth promotion of infants, children, and youth. Many concerns unique to the north came to the forefront and stories were told from the heart. It was informative and emotional – definitely welcoming! ASI looks forward to future engagement with our new partners in Labrador.
